I spent a lot of time in Nashville over a decade ago. I loved the country music culture and finding the subconscious gems virtually town. Though it was on the come-up, it still felt a bit sleepy and very authentic. A girls’ trip brought me when recently, and I was surprised at how much the municipality had changed, exploded, really. If you can navigate your way virtually the wild, roving bachelorette parties and traffic jams, you will still find all of the authenticity, with the heady developments of a municipality in full bloom; wondrous food; and, as always, the weightier people.

Below, some Nashville restaurants I love and other standouts to explore.

RESTAURANTS

  • Locust

    Locust

One of the weightier meals I have overly had in Nashville. Perfect dumplings. And squint at these tomatoes. Everything doughboy Trevor Moran makes is so beautiful.

  • FOLK

    FOLK

Oh my god. Incredible food. This pizza. My wool favorite for dinner.

  • Epice

    Epice

I took a terrible photo, I know, but I went to this unconfined Lebanese place for lunch.

  • O-Ku

    O-Ku

They finally have good sushi in Nashville.

  • Chauhan Ale & Masala House

    Chauhan Ale & Masala House

    Amazing Indian food.

  • Rolf and Daughters

    Rolf and Daughters

Fantastic pasta and really good wine.

  • City House

    City House

When I was in Nashville all those years ago, Municipality House was the first real foodie spot that popped up there. The doughboy won a James Beard Award. I’ve been a lot of times—it’s good.

  • The Optimist

    Great seafood here.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING ELSE

  • Soho House Nashville

    Soho House Nashville

Here’s me in G. Label at the new Soho House in Nashville. It’s in the old warehouse district, and it feels increasingly low-key and pure than some of the hotels downtown. And yes, that’s a bathtub next to the bed.

  • Station Inn

    Station Inn

Station Inn is in the Gulch, and it’s been there forever. It’s real bluegrass. Go in there any night and it’s so good—the weightier musicians you’ve overly heard.

  • Grand Ole Opry

    Grand Ole Opry

Grand Ole Opry really needs no introduction. A tuft of acts come through every night. Like Dolly Parton could pop in.

  • Private Edition

    Private Edition

    Great wax at this place.

  • Imogene Willie

    Imogene Willie

I started coming to this tomfool denim place when I was doing Country Strong. There are now a ton of other shops in the neighborhood.
