Summer 2021: Planning Your Road Trip

Travel

By  |

It’s been a long and cold winter, that’s for sure. It was made worse by the coronavirus pandemic, too — it just feels like forever since we’ve had any fun! However, things are beginning to look up. Now, we’re looking at the beginning of the end of the pandemic. And that means that we’ll be able to do much more in the coming months than we have in the past year.

As such, it’s time to start thinking about all the fun that we’re going to have, especially travel-related fun. After a year cooped up inside, is there anything that sounds better than a road trip? We don’t think so. In this blog, we’ll run through some key considerations that’ll ensure your trip is nothing but good times.

Where Are You Going?

There’s no shortage of excellent road trips to choose from! Of course, since international travel will probably be off-limits this year, we’ll have to keep things domestic. But that’s no great tragedy since the USA offers some of the best road trips in the world. Your starting point will of course be wherever you live, but what you’ll see along the way before you return home? That’s open. Maybe you want to explore the south; perhaps the beautiful west coast is calling you. Get out a big map and begin planning your trip…this stage is almost as exciting as taking the trip!

Who’s Invited?

You could take a road trip by yourself, but having spent so much of our time isolated away from loved ones, it’ll be much better to bring some pals along with you! So who makes the cut? When you’re on a road trip, a sense of teamwork and togetherness is essential. So be sure to only invite people you know you can make decisions and ride out a potentially stressful moment with. Not all friends were made to travel together!

Is Your Car Ready?

If you’re going to enjoy your road trip to the max, then you can’t be stressing about the reliability of your vehicle. It should be able to handle all the miles and various terrains you’ll be traveling. Your car might handle urban life just fine, but may buckle under the strain of a long journey! It’s recommended to have your car checked by a mechanic before you go. You should also change your tires; a company like Border Bandag can help with that. Even if you think your car is ready for action, it’s still important to be prepared just in case something goes wrong. Having a car emergency kit and the number of a repair company is essential.

Camping or Hotels?

Finally, where are you going to sleep? Camping can be a great addition to a road trip. There’s nothing like sleeping under the stars when you’re on a trip that’s designed to take you out of the humdrum of everyday life! If that doesn’t appeal, then you’ll find plenty of motels and hotels along the way. Or how about combining some hotels with camping? The best of all worlds!
